FUN & GAMES (PART 4)

Some funky – some just plain freaky! Here are some of our favourite snap shots from the Halloween Community night with Basement Jaxx.

They’re not dressed up and it’s not the 80s but they deserve a place on the post for bringing good vibes and sporting a scrunchie…

THE MASK

So, ahead of this Saturday’s huge show with Moodymann, we thought we would do a Top 5 of our favourite masked DJs / producers. It seems to have become a bit of a thing…

1. Moodymann

2. MF Doom

3. DJ Stingray

4. Zomby

5. Sbtrkt

To be fair Doom should probably get the number one spot, but we are just a little bit obsessed with Moodymann this week. First person to name one more masked DJ / producer wins a free ticket to Saturday nights Community party with Moodymann, Floating Points and Wbeeza.

Email office@planbgroup.co.uk to enter. Winners will be announced on Friday.

WBEEZA x COMMUNITY

We have just added South London boy wonder Wbeeza to the Community launch party with Moodymann and Floating Points. Hailing from Peckham the 23 year old produces deep and jazzy house music far beyond his years.

Check out this cut from Wbeeza’s ‘New Skank EP’ and look out for his debut album which will be dropping later this year.

COMMUNITY x LATE NIGHT AUDIO x THE COSMIC TRUTH

For the very first Community session on Saturday 14th August, we’ve invited Danny Clark & Toby Tobias from Late Night Audio and The Cosmic Truth boys, Nicholas Balfe and Dickie Chaytor, to party all night long in a special preview of whats to come here at Plan Brixton in September.

LNA has gone from strength to strength following their hot parties and a number of prominent releases – check out the latest EP from Toby (the Macasu EP) which includes a remix on the flip from Motor City Drum Ensemble.

Saturdays will, from September, be a gathering for innovative plus retrospective forms of house, techno, disco and other electronics …

Danny & Toby lived in Brixton for many years before heading East.

DBRIDGE x INSTRA:MENTAL

DBridge track – ‘Blush Response’ featuring Instra:mental has become something of a summer anthem for the last two years, after being released on his stunning debut album – The Gemini Principle in June 2008 for Exit Records.

This timeless beauty, devoid of genre, should put Instra:mental and DBridge’s Autonomic label and pristine production ethics high on any music lovers scale.

Autonomic podcasts available here.

DJ HARVEY x UK TOUR

Legendary DJ / producer Harvey is due to make a long overdue return to the UK after finally resolving his long standing visa issues, which have forced him to remain in the US for a number of years.

His absence has only made his reputation and cult like status grow stronger.

As well as being one of the first people in the UK to book the likes of Larry Levan, he is probably best known for his epic nine hour sets, which cover everything from disco and house, to rock and punk.

He is currently touring in Europe with a UK tour planned for 2011.

Harvey is originally from Cambridge, but spent most of his formative years living in and around Brixton.

ANDY BLAKE x FACT MAGAZINE

Dissident Records boss Andy Blake has put together a mix for one of our favourite sources of electronic music news – FACT Magazine.

Andy is better known around these parts for the warehouse rave he runs with Joe Hart – World Unknown, which he describes as being “dedicated to the noble art of throbbing electronic music for dancing”.

Andy Blake will be playing at our weekly house / techno night Community in October.
